DEKODUR Event 2007
After the successful „Meet DEKODUR 2005” in
2005, everyone met again this year for the 2007
event, held in the home of DEKODUR.
Around 90 guests from all over the world attended.
Monday 07.05.2007 was the general day of arrival.
All guests were collected from the airport by limousine
and driven to their hotels. During the get together in
the evening there was plenty of opportunity for
everyone to get to know each other.
In a relaxed atmosphere, many then hit the dance
floor, there was much laughter and everyone enjoyed
the good music.
The next morning, guests met at DEKODUR for breakfast together after which they
began, feeling fortified, the programme of events. For this, the host had come up with
something very special. Already upon arrival at the company grounds, the 50 vehicles
could not be missed. The secret which had been closely guarded until then was revealed
and the unsus-pecting guests found out that they were all invited to a rally through
the Odenwald.
After splitting everyone up into groups, the journey could begin. The rally was
divided into two routes. Lunch at the Mittelburg in Neckarsteinach marked half
time and provided fortification in the form of spit roast ox and other culinary
delights so that the second half of the rally could be really enjoyed. Participants
drove to stops at which they had to answer general questions on DEKODUR
products. There were also challenges which required skill and expertise to be
mastered. And how lovely that the weather was also so fine!
In the evening everyone then met for a gala dinner above the rooftops of Hirschhorn
in the old monastery. After dinner guests astounded at the clairvoyant skills of a mind
reader and enjoyed the great music. During the course of the evening the winners of
the DEKODUR rally were also announced and presented with their prizes.

In the run-up to the event, guests were asked to bring pictures
of application examples with them which were realised with
DEKODUR materials. The first three places were each awarded
a prize. The winners were:
1st place: Sadun/Italy
2nd place: Laminex/Australia
3rd place: WCG Holdings/South Africa
Guests sat together until late in the evening, enjoying the
familiarity which had developed with the team spirit during
the past days. A spectacular firework display ended a
wonderful evening.
The next morning, everyone met again for breakfast together
at DEKODUR. A bus which was waiting then took most guests
back to Cologne to the INTERZUM.
We would here like to once again thank all guests who accepted
our invitation and enjoyed an eventful time together with us.

Volkmar R. André celebrates 40-year anniversary at DEKODUR
Volkmar R. André, managing director of the traditional manufacturer of high quality
decorative laminated panels, DEKODUR, celebrated his 40th anniversary with the company
on 1st March 2007.
He has been successfully managing the family business in Hirschhorn since 1967.
Berlin-born André is seen as the „driving force” in the development of new products and integrates
himself perfectly into the tradition of the company. Already in the early sixties, DEKODUR, as first
manufacturer of decorative laminated panels out of real metal, set a milestone in the history of the
material. Further innovations followed up to André’s most recent idea – to press bark fibre cloth into
a decorative laminate – an idea which has now been honoured with a nomination for the Design Prize
2007 of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Innovations are of major importance and the most important capital for the experts at DEKODUR, which specialises solely in smaller
production amounts. With this business strategy, André, a carpenter, salesman and business economist who worked for two years as
management assistant at Massey Ferguson in the USA prior to his career in Hirschhorn, has, already for years, successfully positioned
his company on the national and international market.For several decades, André has also been dedicated, with an equal wealth of ideas
as he shows his own products, to the decorative laminate specialist group in the Pro-K – Industrial Association of Semi-Finished and
Consumer Products out of Plastics and the International Committee of Manufacturers of Decorative Laminate (ICDLI). With this, he
continually sets trends in the further development of decorative laminates on a national as well as international level.

„M Technology Award 2007”
In collaboration with the magazine „M”, the hosts of the ZOW are giving out the „M Technology Award” for the first time.
The exhibiting companies from all ZOW Business Events, as well as non-exhibitors showing interest, are all called upon.
Even Dekodur is presenting itself to the jury with two innovative product groups.
The nominated products will be displayed at the ZOW from 26th February – 1st March 2007, and the award ceremony
will take place on the opening evening of the ZOW.
