Marco Hufnagel at the Ironman Hawaii 2008 – also for DEKODUR

Ironman triathlon is almost the only sport, in which amateurs stand on the starting
line together with the best professionals in the world and undertake the same course.
Marco Hufnagel was one competitor at the start who also has a job in addition to his
sporting activities.

Marco had one aim; he wanted to „get back home by daylight” – that is, to achieve
the status of a Daylight Finisher. Starting at 7:00 in the morning in the tropics, this
means having to run back down Alii Drive after only 11 hours. And Marco made it!
The triathlon Mecca Kailua-Kona was a wonderful experience for Marco. The whole
place is taken over by the event. The competitors are welcomed everywhere as friends
and the people congratulate every performance.

Although it had not been so warm on the day before and there had been scarcely
any wind all week, just in time for race day it became sunny, warm and the wind
increased strongly. The conditions this year were particularly hard and many
professionals did not make the finish. The starting gun was at precisely 7:00 local
time and according to Marco it was a super experience to swim in the ocean.
Because of the saltwater, he developed extreme thirst at half distance, which he
could not get rid of until the end of the competition. After a reasonable swimming
time, he got on his bicycle and was soon well underway. But after about 60 km, the
notorious Mumuku wind got up and Marco’s strength withered. The heat on the cycle
route was also unbearable. He then managed the final marathon with a solid
performance and ended the race in a time of 10:07 hours, placing 350 overall out of
1800 athletes. In his age class, he was in place 76 out of the 237 competitors who
reached the finish. We congratulate Marco Hufnagel on this super performance and
wish him further fun and success in the exercise of his sport.

Duathlon: Marco Hufnagel is the
runner-up in Germany

Duathlon: Marco Hufnagel, sponsored by
DEKODUR, is the runner-up in Germany and
the champion of Baden Wuerttemberg

The 35-year old Heidelberg triathlete was able to celebrate
a successful debut for SG Poseiden on the last weekend
in April. Starting with the Backnanger Cityduathlon
he aimed at defending his German and Baden-
Wuerttemberg championship title for his age-group. This
entailed running for 10 kilometers, cycling for 40 kilometers
and running again for a further 5 kilometers.

In the pleasant spring temperature the 267 participants were
sent off on their challenging task. Right at the start on an
upward incline of about 400 meters the wheat was separated from the chaff. From the very start Hufnagel
succeeded in staying within a leading group.He maintained his position following the switch to the cycling
and lost a little contact with the leaders only in the last of three circuits. However, he was able to make up for
lost ground in the concluding run and finally achieved a superb 8th position overall in a time of 2:01:32 hours.
With a gap of only 3 minutes behind the winner he secured himself the German runner up title and the
Baden-Wuerttemberg championship title.

Visit by Holzland Waterkamp at DEKODUR

Visit by Holzland Waterkamp and their customers and sales representatives at DEKODUR on April
10 – 11, 2008. After a five-hour bus trip, the guests were welcomed at the castle in Hirschhorn,
where everyone became better acquainted in a quaint atmosphere with good food, interesting
conversations and medieval Minnesang.

After a short night, the visit continued the next morning at the DEKODUR plant grounds, where
the guests received a tour of the plant and visited the artist studio, with a presentation and the
opportunity to "take the initiative". The visit ended with a rustic lunch, including an open forum,
after which the guests returned to Rheine.
